The storm seems to be getting over in the Oyo APC crisis as key figures in those that believe in the ideology of first Oyo Executive Governor in the 4th Republic, Late Lam-Adesina fondly called LAMISTS and those that believe in the ideology of the immediate past governor of the state, Abiola Ajimobi called SENACO were at the meeting for strong and united Oyo APC held in Abuja yesterday.
This is the first time the two groups would be attending a reconciliation meeting together, it has been accusation and counter-accusation from the two groups before.
Governor Abubakar Badaru led reconciliation committee seems to have achieved something good for the unity of the party as he met leaders of LAMISTS and SENACO groups differently before joint meeting with the leaders of the two groups.
In attendance from the LAMISTS/Unity camp were 2019 ADC governorship candidate, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, former Oyo South Senator, Adesoji Akanbi, former Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, aide of former Governor Lam-Adesina, Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle and host of others while SENACO group had Senator Teslim Folarin, Senator Fatai Buhari, Chief Adebayo Adelabu and others.
FreshPage had earlier reported that the Unity Forum/LAMISTS have demanded the sack of the party’s executive across the 33 local government areas of the state and reconstitute another one in the State in a petition sent to Abubakar Badaru led reconciliation committee
The SENACO group thrown weight behind Chief Akin Oke led state executive to complete their tenure.
The Abubakar Badaru led reconciliation committee have a long way to go to end the crisis in the Oyo APC that resulted in its downfall in the last general election.
Joining Governor Badaru at the reconciliation committee were Chairman, Governors’ Forum, Dr. Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti and Governor Lalong of Plateau state.
Should this reconciliation work out, the pendulum may change and give sitting governor tough battle to return to Agodi House come 2023.
