The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, FAS, today hosted members of the UI Class of ’67.
The visiting team was led by the President of the Class, Professor Oladele Osibanjo who brought good wishes from the Class group.
Professor Osibanjo recalled the VC’s brilliant academic records as a teacher, researcher and manager of human resources adding that these point to the fact that the VC will excel and take UI to higher levels of development.
He stated that the UI Community was blessed to have Professor Adebowale as the driver of the UI boat for the next five years. He said the University would enjoy visionary and purposeful academic leadership; hardwork and a harvest of successful innovation and better life during his tenure.
The VC appreciated the members of the Class of 67 noting that their commitment and passion for the University of Ibadan are very encouraging.
Professor Adebowale assured that his administration will leverage the Alumni Community in moving the University forward.
The UI Class of ’67 had donated, the strong iron gate at the front of the UI gate; one million naira cash donation towards the building of the University Advancement Centre in 1998; a bust of a female worth two point eight million naira to celebrate class knowledge; and one million naira for Queen Elizabeth II Hall lady bust in 2017.
Other donations included $2500 to the UI Phantom Challenge; six giant fans to the E. Latunde Odeku Medical Library; and 60 plastic chairs to the UI Alumni Centre.
Members of the visiting team included Professor Oladele Osinbanjo; Chief Bayo Oyero; Professor Sayeed Tunde Malik; Mr Jibola Dedenuola; Dr Kayode Lasaki; and Mr Abiodun Onibonoje. Other members were, Mrs Adejoke Scott-Emuakpor; and Olori Titilola Famubode .
Present at the meeting were the Registrar, Mrs Olubunmi O. Faluyi; Professor P. O. Olapegba, a member of the University Governing Council and Dr Abib Olamitoye, a past President of Ibadan College of Medicine Alumni Association.
