~Monarch warns them to desist from act capable of undermining traditional institution
In what could be described as long term dreams materialised for Ibadan based social media influencer and socialite, Abiola Oyeyemi Olusogo as Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Senator (Dr) Mohood Olalekan Balogun, Alli-Okunmade II, on Monday installed him and others as Mogaji Agoro family of Itutaba area, Ibadan, Oyo state capital.
He was installed along with others at the Alarere palace of Olubadan in the presence of members of Olubadan-in-Council, which included the Balogun of Ibadanland, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin; Otun Balogun, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola; the Osi Olubadan, Oba Eddy Oyewole; Ashipa Balogun Oba, Kola Adegbola; and Others.
Mogaji, which stands for head of a large family, is the first step in the Olubadan Chieftaincy Matters. It is at the base of the two ruling lines – Otun (civil) and Balogun (military), that have been producing Olubadan on a rotational basis.
During the installation, Olubadan warned Mogaji Abiola Oyeyemi and the other installing Mogajis against land grabbing and other vices capable of tarnishing the image of the Ibadan traditional institution.
Fielding questions from this reporter on his installation as Mogaji, Mogaji Abiola Oyeyemi said: “I am very happy about it. It’s long overdue. I also congratulate Agoro Sons and Daughters for their resilience and support during the process, of getting a Mogaji for the family after a Donkey Year worth celebration. It is what we have been looking forward to doing. We thank God that it has come to reality; to God be all the glory.
” More so, on behalf of the Agoro family both in the city and village, I appreciate the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Mohood Olalekan Balogun, Alli-Okunmade II, and his council members for their unanimous decision to rectify my name for the title after a request by my family members.
Speaking on his responsibility, to the family and Ibadanland, Mogaji Abiola Oyeyemi said, he knows the the tasks ahead are very enormous but will discharge what is expected of him perfunctory.
” I believe that God will help me to shoulder the responsibilities. I will discharge my duties appropriately. The progress of Ibadanland is very dear to my heart. I will join the traditional institution in Ibadan for the growth and development of Ibadan,” Mogaji Oyeyemi stated.
A family member, Pa. Yusuff Asanla, who was also present at the palace during the installation said, Abiola Oyeyemi was chosen to be the family head because he had a leadership quality,” Pa Asanla said.
” We chose him to be the new Mogaji because of so many qualities the family sees in him.
“ We know him to have a leadership trait, trustworthy, hardworking, fair-minded, and generous as well. He likes to take care of the interests of everybody within the family.
Wife of Mogaji Agoro Family of Itutaba, Mrs Nafisat Kehinde Abiola, promised to be a strong pillar of support to her husband in the onerous task of advancing the cause of the large family and Ibadanland.
