A 40-year old motorcycle rider in Benue State, Mr. Akpo Igwe has been arrested by Police for allegedly slept with eight-month old pregnant woman.
According to the family member of the victim who spoke with the police obtained by BBC News Yoruba, she said the pregnant woman was coming from the market on the fateful day and stopped Igwe to pick her at agreed price.
Igwe was said to have diverted the pregnant woman to bush when the journey was ongoing and slept with the woman.
The family member spoke further that th pregnant woman fainted during the process which Igwe thought she has died and took her body to nearby river before they found her the following day.
“When we found her at the nearby river, we took her to hospital for proper check up and reported the matter to police”.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Benue State, SP Catherine Anene confirmed the incidence and assured the family of the victim that police would do thorough investigation while the suspect is in detention.
