As part of the effort to raise consciousness of people in society about breast cancer as the world celebrate Pink October to mark this year’s Breast Cancer Day, the visionary founder of Oiler Foundation, Hon. Sarafadeen Abiola has organized awareness programme and free breast examination for the good people of Akinyele local government area of Oyo State.

The event which took place at the Moniya garage had in attendance community leaders, market men and women as well as youth in the local government.

Oiler Foundation achieved the feat through partnering with Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN).

Hon. Sarafadeen Abiola while welcoming everyone at the venue of the event appreciated the God for giving him opportunity to sponsor a programme that would raise consciousness of people as regards their health.

He also used the occasion to express his sincere appreciation to BRECAN and its team for honouring his invitation to educate his people and conduct free test for people.

The visionary man said charity begins at home, that was why he decided to bring the programme to his people in Akinyele local government while maintaining that his love for all mothers and fathers was unshakeable.

Hon. Sarafadeen noted that his dream is to always give back to society from the little God has given to him while emphasising that cancer kill faster if not detect early.

She took her time to reel out the achievement of BRECAN since 2002 in terms of making meaningful contribution to reduce breast cancer in the country.

She emphasized that breast cancer is not a death sentence as many erroneously believe, she harped on early detection to defeat the scourge. She urged people to always speak out when they notice changes in their breast.

She however advocated for a healthy living through regular exercise, eating fruits and vegetables. She encouraged participants to shun sedentary life style.

The BRECAN National Chairperson, Oyo State Chapter, Mrs. Tolu Taiwo took participants through practical ways of breast self examination.

She informed the participants to always know how their breasts normally look and feel while the changes to check for must be known too.

She urged those above 40 years to always go for mammogram as recommended by doctor on yearly basis.

She affirmed that the founder BRECAN also defeated breast cancer as far back as 23 years ago.

No fewer than 80 participants voluntarily registered for free breast examination at the programme.
