In a moving display of respect and admiration, the Olubadan-designate of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, paid a heartfelt visit to the venerable Basorun Kola Daisi, a 93-year-old corporate titan and founder of Kola-Daisi University, at his Iyaganku, Ibadan, residence. This gesture underscores the profound bond of mentorship and the enduring impact of role models in shaping leadership trajectories.
Oba Ladoja unequivocally described Basorun Kola Daisi as his mentor, emphasising the inspiration drawn from Daisi’s remarkable life journey.
Daisi’s alma maters include Ibadan Boys High School (1951) and the prestigious London School of Economics. His investments and charitable endeavours have touched countless lives, earning him esteem in Ibadanland and beyond.
Interestingly, Oba Ladoja also attended Ibadan Boys High School, Oke Bola, Ibadan, founded by the late Chief T. L. Oyesina. It must be noted that Basorun Daisi is one of the benefactors of the University of Ibadan, as he donated the Ayo Rosiji Computer Laboratory in the Department of Computer Science, University of Ibadan. The late Chief Ayo Rosiji was one of his mentors.
