The process of how Osun monarch who currently serves 56 months jail term in the United States has continued to generate heated debates among princes of the two ruling houses; to Prince Olaboye Ayoola, Oba Joseph Oloyede, Apetu of Ipetumodu was not properly installed.
Prince Ayoola in an exclusive interview granted by the Nation Newspaper claimed that traditional rite was set aside and alleged that an Igbo man who was a civil servant crowned Oba Joseph Oloyede, as Apetu of Ipetumodu in 2019.

Prince Olaboye recounted the disgrace jailed monarch brought to Ipetumodu and ruling house was unquantifiable. He stressed that the recent U.S judgement on $4.2million fraud perpetrated by Oba Oloyede is an indication that gods were not happy with the process of this accession.
Prince Olaboye pointed out Oba Joseph Oloyede was appointed secretly, which was against the tradition of Apetu stool. Prince Olaboye said Oba Oloyede was appointed through sporadic shooting of a gun, usually designed to accompany the king to the palace.

“We reported the faulty process to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, who said we should consult the ifa oracle, but that was not followed. However, the head of the kingmakers insisted that he is not consulting any Ifa. It is noteworthy that they used Ifa to establish Ipetumodu; the process must always be followed”
“If they want to choose the king, they want to choose the king, they should not follow the Christian and Muslim ways but must be guided by pure tradition. Their refusal to use Ifa caused this. Oba Oloyede failed to observe all traditional rites, we use to crown Apetu in Boosa, no king crowns Apetu, it is the princes that unanimously put crown called Sese Efun on the king before other crown. He should see the deities of the land. The man who is traditionally saddled with the responsibility of crowning the king was angry for not following tradition, hence he did not participate”.
