Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has expressed his determination to resign if the allegation of N998million contract scam linked to his government over production of exercise books for secondary schools in Oyo State is found to be true.
Governor Makinde made the strong statement on Saturday at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan, during one year anniversary of Agidigbo FM, a private radio station based in Ibadan.
The need to speak on contract by Governor Makinde becomes imperative following the outcome of the review carried out by Dataphyte which found out that the unit cost of notebook stood at N2,100.
FreshPage gathered that the report has generated comments among residents of Oyo about financial culture of the present government.
According to review by Dataphyte, the first phase of the contract was awarded in August 2019 and ran to December 2020, the said contracts were allegedly inflated. The founder of Agidigbo FM, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat reportedly owned the three companies linked with the contract scam.
Makinde urged people to wait for outcome of investigation if he will be found guilty. He vowed to resign his seat as Governor of Oyo State if the allegation of N998million is true.
