Barely 30 months after Senator Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi joined Hon. Minister of Aviation, Alhaji Hadi Sirika to commission remodeling of Alakia Airport, Ibadan, the College of Aviation Students met Senator Akanbi at his Abuja’s office on a thank you visit for his contribution and role in aviation sector in Nigeria.

The students reiterated that the purpose of their visit is to appreciate Senator Akanbi for his tremendous contribution and role played to achieve remodeling of Alakia Airport, Ibadan commissioned in May 2019.

One of the students, Oladunni Tobiloba who spoke said; as a professional, prominent and visible member on the floor in the 8th Senate, we commended the role he played at plenary to ensure that Alakia Airport wears new look.

 

Senator Akanbi remarked that the condition of the airport was bad before he took it up at the plenary and called for the remodeling of the Alakia Airport. He said it is visible to everyone now that aviation industry is growing fast couple with high safety rate in the last five years.

He commended Minister of Aviation, Alhaji Hadi Sirika for his vision to take the sector to an enviable height. His role to ensure Nigeria’s flights were unban to foreign countries due to Omicron variant of COVID-19 pandemic.

Senator Akanbi’s giant stride in infrastructural development in South West Nigeria is worth commendation. He was part of the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge railway project from the beginning and played critical role till its inauguration; said Tobiloba

Senator Akanbi said he was joyous that the Federal Government has released funds for the construction of Ibadan-Kano railway standard gauge. He described project as a welcome development that will boost the economy of Ibadan and other states.

“I’m congratulating myself, the good people Ibadan and of Oyo state in general for benefitting from this huge infrastructural project going on all over the country. It is important to tell my people and Nigerians that capital project like railway will go a long way in repositioning the transport sector in Nigeria”.

“I want to urge our people to desist from vandalisation of railway facilities. I equally want to charge our people living around the railway line to be vigilant and report any individual loitering or wandering around”.
