Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has emphasized that his administration would take the welfare of pensioners’ seriously by reviewing their pensions in tandem with the new minimum wage
Governor Makinde made the promise at an interfaith service to usher in the New Year 2025 held at the premises of the Governor’s office.
The Governor who promised to deliberate with labour leaders during the week assured that his administration would work out a sustainable method to pay backlog of pension and gratuity.
Governor Makinde acknowledged the cooperation of labour leaders and pledged to always reward diligence even as efforts would be intensified to rid the state of all forms of banditry for the benefit of the people.
In her address, the State Head of Service, Mrs Olubumbi Oni, expressed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the state workers to Governor Makinde for his unwavering commitment to the welfare of all civil and public servants.
The Speaker of the state House Assembly, Right Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, represented by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Muhammed Fadeyi and the State Chief Judge, Justice Iyabo Yerima represented by Justice Olusegun Olagunju, charged the state workers to rededicate themselves to the service of the State in the year 2025.
The 2025 Interfaith prayer also had in attendance the first lady in the state, Mrs Tamunominini Makinde, the Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo-Lawal, State former Deputy Governors, Commissioners, other top government functionaries, Traditional Rulers, Religious leaders, Political Appointees, among whom was the Chairman of BCOS, Mrs Dotun Olaitan.
