Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde on Friday flagged off the construction and dualisation of 8.3km Akobo-Olohunda Abaa road located in Lagelu Local Government.

At the flag off ceremony held in Olohunda Abaa, the governor pointed out the significance of the road to the economy and expansion of Ibadan.

Governor Makinde in his address commended the good people of Olohunda Abaa and its environs for standing by his government and supporting him throughout OmiTunTun 1.0.

“You have endured, relief has come as we flag off the construction of this road today. It’s a true test to fulfilling of my campaign promises. This is the first project in OmiTunTun 2.0, unlike OmiTunTun 1.0 where it took my administration 5 months to flag off a project. Akobo-Olohunda Abaa flag off project came 11 days after my swearing-in”.

“Let me assured you, contractor has promised to deliver within 12 months, we have paid 30 per cent out 9.3billion naira approved for the construction of the road. The road will be dualised once and for all to avoid future cost. The owners of properties marked for demolition to pave way for construction of the road will be compensated”.

Makinde said OmiTunTun 2.0 will focus more attention on inner road projects and support all local government chairmen to do more citizens.

Why speaking on the status of light-up Oyo project, Engr Makinde said his administration has completed audit of the project, saying the lights will be back within 2 or 3 weeks.

As part of the efforts to cushion effect of fuel subsidy removal, Engr Makinde he has ordered deployment of OmiTunTun buses at no fare increase while students and senior citizens are to pay 50 per cent of the fare.

Governor Makinde said when the road project is completed, from Idi-Ape down to Akobo-Olohunda Abaa becomes Nyesom Wike Road.
