In a groundbreaking feat, Ilado and Alapa communities in Ibarapa East Local Government, Oyo State, have bid farewell to darkness, thanks to Sen. Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi’s community intervention programmes. The fruits of his labor came to fruition with perseverance and unwavering determination when two (2) 50KWP mini-grid electrification project, approved by former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, and erstwhile Managing Director of Rural Electrification Agency, Ahmad Salihyo, was successfully executed.
Project Timeline:
– Commencement Date: October 17, 2020
– Completion Date: February 10, 2022
– The project has been commissioned and the supply of electricity to the community have been activated immediately.
Over 1,000 households in each community now bask in the warmth of electricity, transforming lives, energizing businesses, Securing lives, empowering futures, and also mini-Agricultural processing plants are springing which has boosted the economic level of the community as most are farmers.
Residents overflow with gratitude for Sen. Akanbi’s selfless efforts, accomplished without holding public office. They also noted that he’s the first and only politician so far to bring such initiatives to the community.
Akanbi expressed heartfelt appreciation to: Former minister of Power, Saleh Mamman and Former Managing Director of Rural Electrification Agency, Ahmad Salihyo for their visionary approval, Asteven International Company for timely and efficient project execution and the community for securing project land, demonstrating unwavering cooperation.
Senator Akanbi also advised the community to take good care of the project and prevent it from vandalization and stealing.
