The Chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, OYSIEC, Aare Abiola Olagunju, has revealed why electoral umpire included the logo of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in ballot papers used for today’s local government election in the state.
The legal icon, who was fielding questions on Fresh 105.9 FM, said they had awarded contract for the printing or ballot papers, thinking APC was going to participate.
He said having received assurances, from APC and 17 other political parties, OYSIEC had gone ahead with preparations
Following the inability of APC to press for postponement of the election to allow the party field in candidates, this online newspaper understands that 17 parties are participating in today’s election.
Oyo APC, this newspaper recalls, had asked for postponement because it was prevented from participating because of the legal tussle that was recently decided by the Supreme Court.
