A report by Security and Political Risk Research Firm based in Lagos State has revealed that over six hundred fifty million naira (N650,000,000) was paid as ransom in Nigeria between between July 2021 and June 2022.

The report was published in August 2022 detailed security situation in the country and cost associated. According to the report broadcasted by TVC News Correspondent, 500 incidents of kidnapping recorded as 3,420 person were abducted. The report further indicated that 564 persons were killed in violence related with abductions.
As a way of tackling insecurity, troops of 25 Brigade Operation Hadin Kai had neutralized four members of Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) terrorists along Maiduguri -Danbua road, Borno State.
The worst hit geo-political zones were North West, North East and South East where banditry attack have sent many people out of their comfort zones.
The activities of Biafra agitators in the South East also accounted for significant security threat in the country where abductions and kidnapping have become order of the day.
