The University of Ibadan community woke up with the sad news of its intellectual assets, Prof. Opeyemi Ajewole who was reportedly killed by unknown gunmen while returning to his Ibadan residence on Monday night.

Ajewole fondly called Iroko was a lecturer at the Department of Forest Resources Management and a Professor of Social and Environmental Forestry.

Ajewole became household name for undergraduate students were residents of Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall, when he served as the Hall Warden of the hall.
According to sources obtained by FreshPage, assailants shot him and took his car away.
