Oyo State Government has announced the dissolution of the six hundred and forty-three (643) Governing Boards in public secondary schools in state.

The decision of the government was contained in a circular letter issued by the office of Honourable Commissioner for Education, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Olasunkani Olaleye. The circular letter was addressed to Accountant General, Auditor General, Zonal Inspectors of Education, Local Inspectors of Education and Principals of Public Secondary Schools.

Barrister Olaleye appreciated School Governing Boards (SGB) for their contribution to the development of education sector in the state.

Principals all secondary schools in the state were directed to ensure that all schools’ materials in the Board’s custody were handed over to the school authority before their departure.

FreshPage recalls that School Governing Boards (SGB) was introduced by administration of late Senator Abiola Ajimobi to bring about desirable changes in education sector.
