As part of the measure to reduce crowds at the Computer Based Test Centres (CBTs) in cities during the 2022/2023, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced Self-registration for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) examinations.
The new development was contained in a weekly bulletin released and signed by Head of Media and Information of the examination body, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.
Dr. Benjamin said the essence of the initiative was to leverage on the digital competence of its increasing number of computer savvy candidates to ease registration processes.
According to JAMB; “This system would, in long run reduce the crowds at CBT centres in these cities. The conception of this Noble is to advance the digital competence of candidates”.
The Board said it has adopted 66019 as an additional and optional USSD code as alternative to its initial 55019 code that had been in operation since 2018, for UTME/DE registration and other services rendered by the board.
Applicants are required to send their National Identification Number (NIN) through either of codes for their details to be extracted from NIMC database before they proceed to any accredited centre for biometric capturing.
