The Legislative Council, Iwajowa Local Government Area have suspended the activities of Student’s Union bodies in the Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The decision of the council suspending activities of the entire Students’ Union bodies in the LG was contained in the resolution of the House held on Wednesday, 5th January, 2021.

The House noted that the Students’Union bodies such as FISA, FISU among others have been constituting nuisance, posed threat and breach of peace in the Council area following the crisis that erupted on Monday when the association wanted to elect new union leaders.

The motion to suspend the activities of Students’ Union bodies in the LG was moved by Hon. Soliu Bariu and seconded by Hon. Adepoju Sunday.

In a resolution of the House made available to FreshPage Newspaper which was signed by the Chairman, Iwajowa Local Government, Hon. Oyinloye Jelili Adebare and other principal officers of the Legislative Council, the House unanimously resolved and approved as follows:

“That the students’ union activities (FISA, FISU etc) is hereby proscribed in the interest of peace until further notice;

“That, all the students’ union bodies under whatever acronym would henceforth be summoned to the House with a view to proffering lasting solution to the union issue and thereby ensuring peace,

“That, copies of this resolution would be communicated and or forwarded to the Security Agencies, Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders, Community Leaders and Students’Union Leaders for implementation and strict compliance”.
