Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared winner of last Saturday, February 25th presidential polls.
Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, the Chief Returning Officer for the presidential election announced the results in Abuja around 4:11am.
Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu polled a total of 8,794,726 votes to defeat his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of PDP who scored 6,984,520 votes.
Mr Peter Obi of the Labour Party came third with 6,101,533 votes while Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso of NNPP polled 1,493,066 votes.
INEC declared that the total accredited voters for the election were 25, 286,616 and 25, 25,940 votes were valid. Also, the total rejected votes were 939,278 while total number of votes cast were 24, 965,218.
According to the breakdown of the results, Tinubu won in 12 states, Atiku also won in 12 states while Obi won in 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Kwankwaso won only in Kano State.
As stated by constitution, Asiwaju Tinubu will be sworn-in on May 29, as President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor in tittle.
