The Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Education has announced the closure of forty-seven (47) Federal Unity Colleges in some states.
According to the circular signed by Director of Senior Secondary Schools, Hajia Binta Abdulkadir at the ministry on behalf of the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa. The circular cited recent security challenges in some parts of the country and the need to prevent any security breeches.
FreshPage recalls that no fewer than three Secondary Schools in the northern part of the country were attacked by bandits.
FreshPage observed that the majority of the affected schools are from the northern part of the country in a circular made available to newsmen.

Dr Alausa urged the principals of the affected Colleges to ensure strict compliance to avert further attack and abduction of innocent secondary school students.
