Akinyele Local Government’s Supervisory Councillor for Energy and Mines , Hon. Alabede Abass, has empowered 40 constituents with cash grants and commissioned solar-powered streetlights across parts of the local government, reaffirming his commitment to grassroots development and community security.
Addressing journalists shortly after the empowerment programme, Hon. Abass expressed profound gratitude to God Almighty, whom he described as the ultimate architect of his political journey. He credited his emergence and growth in public service to the strategic support and mentorship of Senator Monsurat Sunmonu, noting that his appointment became possible through her recommendation and belief in his potential.
“God deliberately sent Senator Monsurat Sunmonu to transform my political journey. This opportunity is possible because a benefactor saw capacity and believed in me,” he said.
The Energy and Mines Supervisor also commended the GSM-led administration for creating an enabling environment that supports innovative ideas and people-focused governance, which, according to him, made the empowerment initiative and solar lighting project achievable.
Hon. Abass further appreciated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for providing a broader platform for young leaders to contribute meaningfully to governance and community development.
He described the cash empowerment of beneficiaries as a deliberate step toward easing economic pressures on residents, while the installation of solar streetlights was aimed at improving security, enhancing night-time visibility, and promoting sustainable energy solutions at the grassroots.
