An Open Letter to His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde
Executive Governor of Oyo State
Your Excellency,
Warm greetings to you in the spirit of unity and purposeful governance.
I write this letter as a concerned youth and active stakeholder from Ibarapa East Local Government, Eruwa, and by extension, on behalf of the entire Ibarapa zone. This is not a politically motivated letter, nor is it one aimed at discrediting your laudable achievements across Oyo State. Rather, it is a humble appeal for equitable attention to the Ibarapa region, which we feel has been underrepresented in your administration’s infrastructural agenda.
We appreciate the developmental strides your administration has made across Oyo State, transformative road projects, investments in education, agribusiness initiatives, and social infrastructure in Ibadan, Oke-Ogun, Ogbomoso, and beyond. However, the same level of transformation has yet to be felt in many parts of Ibarapa.
During your campaign tours, you referred to Ibarapa as your second home, a sentiment that gave us a strong sense of belonging and hope. Our people responded with overwhelming support. But since then, key expectations, especially on infrastructure, have not been met.
Many communities in Ibarapa still lack good roads, stable electricity, social amenities, and government-backed economic opportunities. While other regions are witnessing “miracles” under your leadership, Ibarapa continues to await visible signs of inclusion.
A major example is the road project between Ido and Ibarapa, where only just 12 kilometers out of 56 kilometers were awarded to Ibarapa East community road to Ibadan. Even this portion remains uncompleted. Likewise, in the agribusiness sector, several projects have been successfully executed across other zones, yet the Eruwa Valley Resort and Agribusiness Project, a potentially game-changing initiative, has not progressed beyond a ceremonial flag-off.
Furthermore, I wish to call your attention specifically to Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, one of the three state-owned institutions in our region. The polytechnic is in dire need of infrastructure, outdated buildings, insufficient classrooms, and the lack of modern facilities threaten the learning environment for thousands of students. We passionately plead that Your Excellency kindly facilitate the inclusion of the institution in TETFund intervention programs and consider other forms of capital development to revive and reposition the school for excellence.
We recognize the presence of high-ranking political figures from our zone, including the Honourable Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly Rt. Hon Adebo Edward Ogundoyin, other Honourables, Honourables Commissioners, Our Local Government Chairmen and other state, and local appointees. However, without adequate executive attention, their efforts may fall short of the expectations of the people who sent them.

Your Excellency, this is a respectful appeal from a concerned youth who believes in your vision and capacity to deliver good governance. We are not ungrateful. In fact, we commend every step you’ve taken to advance Oyo State as a whole, including the few interventions in Ibarapa. But like Oliver Twist, we are asking for more, because we believe that Ibarapa deserves more.

We ask that you use the time remaining in your tenure to ensure that the Ibarapa zone is not left behind. Let Ibarapa benefit from your legacy of progress and inclusiveness. Let our people see and feel the dividends of democracy, and let good governance be evenly spread across all regions.
May God continue to bless Ibarapa, Oyo State, and our beloved Nigeria.
