Mr. Isiak Abdullahi, a resident of Alalubosa community in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State has recounted how suspected gunmen attacked and shot at residents in his community.

Isiak who sustained a shoulder injury from the gunshot told BBC News Yoruba how he managed to escape and how Vigilante group came to their rescue in the community when police couldn’t assist due to logistics problem.

Embittered Mr Isiak said he was discussing with father when he started hearing gunshots from different sides.

“We placed several calls to the police, we didn’t get response from them. It was Vigilante group that eventually saved us from the night attackers who came around 10:00pm”.

The leader of the Vigilante group, Mr. Ibrahim Abduquadri said God used them to rescue the lives of people in the community. He called on government to equip them with modern facilities and appeal to government to give them motorcycle to enable respond to emergency calls.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Kwara State appealed to the good people of Alalubosa community in Asa Local Government over the failure of the security operatives to launch rescue operation upon receiving distressed calls. He attributed their failure to difficulty in get the location. He assured them that police will continue to live up to its expectations in saving lives and guarantee safety of all and sundry.
