An alumnus of the University of Ibadan, Dr. Babajide Agunbiade has said that he considers it a great privilege to have attended the University of Ibadan.

He spoke at his investiture and decoration as a UI@75 Ambassador in Lagos.

He said what he became was a great testament to the quality of education that he received at the University of Ibadan.

He recalled that on his arrival in the United States of America, out of over 1000 candidates that sat the entrance examination into Massachussets Institute of Technology he was one of the only two candidates that were offered admission at that time.

He stated that UI is one of the few globally accepted and recognised universities for career and educational advancement.

He advised the management of the University of Ibadan to invest in a website that would enable Alumni to donate constantly and in perpetuity to the University.

Dr Agunbiade, who obtained his first degree in Industrial and Production Engineering from the University of Ibadan, has interests and ownership in many oil companies.

He is the Executive Director of one of the largest oil service companies in the world. He has business interests ranging from real estate , trading, energy infrastructure and shipping to luxury design.

Dr Agunbiade is the founder of Agunbiade Foundation, Asiwaju of Fiditi, and Atoobase of Yorubaland as installed by the Alaafin of
Oyo. He had donated generously to the University of Ibadan during its 70th anniversary and also to the Alumni Association.

On the University of Ibadan team were the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS; the Registrar, Mr Ganiyu O. Saliu; the Chairman of the UI@75 Anniversary Committee, Professor Peter O. Olapegba; Dean of Technology, Professor A. I. Bamgboye; Professor Yahaya Mijinyawa; Head Department of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering, Dr Omobolaji Omobowale and the University’s PRO, Mrs Adejoke Akinpelu.
