Today, we celebrate a remarkable Nigerian, Honourable Akeem Ademola Ige, as he marks his 56th birthday. A former Chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government, Member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism, and currently the Chairman of Local Government Pensions Board, Ige’s impressive credential is a testament to his dedication to public service.
Ige’s journey in politics is a shining example of grassroots leadership. His ability to connect with the people, understand their needs and provide effective representation has earned him the respect and admiration of his constituents. As a former Chairman of Ibadan South East Local Government, Ige demonstrated his capacity for effective governance, implementing projects that improved the lives of the people.
Our paths crossed at a Federation of Ibadan Students’ Union (FIBSU) event held in his office nearly three decades ago when I had the privilege of serving as the National Adviser of FIBSU. I have had the pleasure of observing Honourable Ige’s exceptional character, noting that he is a refined gentleman, a consummate socialite and an exemplary omoluabi.

As a Member of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Ige played a crucial role in shaping policies that benefited the state. Ige’s appointment as Special Adviser on Culture and Tourism was a strategic move, leveraging his expertise to promote the rich cultural heritage of Oyo State. His efforts in this regard have contributed significantly to the state’s tourism sector, creating opportunities for economic growth and development.
As the current Chairman of Oyo State Local Government Pensions Board, Ige is ensuring that retirees receive their entitlements promptly, bringing relief to those who have served the state meritoriously.
As we celebrate Ige’s 56th birthday, I acknowledge his contributions to the development of Oyo State. I pray that his future endeavours will be even more successful than his past achievements.
