Today, September 29, 2025, marks a special milestone in the life of Mr Ganiu Oke Saliu, as he celebrates his 58th birthday. Born in Oka-Akoko, Ondo State, on September 29, 1967, Mr Saliu has lived a life dedicated to academic excellence and administrative prowess. He has built an impressive career in university administration.

Mr Saliu’s academic journey began at the St. John’s Primary School, Oka-Akoko, followed by Victory College, Ikare-Akoko, and culminated in a Bachelor’s degree in English Language from Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti (1987). His professional career took off as an Administrative Officer II at the Ondo State University in 1995.

He joined the University of Ibadan as Deputy Registrar (July 7, 2014) and served in the UI School of Business and the Registry’s Establishments Division.

For leadership roles, he served as the Registrar at the Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa (November 2020), leading to his appointment as the 13th Registrar of the University of Ibadan in April 2023.

As the Registrar, Mr Saliu continues to uphold the University of Ibadan’s traditions and propel it to greater heights. His vision emphasises unity, excellence and addressing challenges such as understaffing and funding constraints. He is an exceptional leader and is dedicated to creating an environment that fosters learning and innovation.
On this special day, I join the University of Ibadan community, colleagues, students and alumni in celebrating Mr Saliu’s birthday.

I wish him good health, continued wisdom and success in steering Nigeria’s premier university towards excellence.

May his leadership continue to inspire progress and leave a lasting legacy.
