A sociopolitical pressure group, The Progressive Ideologues, has called on Hon. Adepoju Anthony, the federal lawmaker representing Ibarapa Central/North Federal Constituency, to present concrete evidence supporting his claims of facilitating job opportunities for about 160 constituents at the Federal Ministry.
In a press statement signed by Chairman Comrade Hamzat Ismail and Secretary Comrade Quadri Adetona, the group stated that their independent research found the lawmaker’s claims to be untrue, exaggerated, and lacking substance.
The Progressive Ideologues have challenged Hon. Adepoju Anthony, through his media aide, to publish a list of at least 70 individuals who have secured employment through his support within the week. They insist the list should include names, positions, relevant details, and, importantly, the immediate towns or communities of origin within Ibarapa for verification.
The group explained that this request follows questions raised by Hon. Adepoju Anthony’s midterm report, which claimed he facilitated job opportunities for over 160 constituents. They believe providing such a list will help validate the lawmaker’s claims and demonstrate his commitment to transparency and accountability.
A member of the group remarked, “I know of 3 people from Ayete, 3 in Tapa, 7 in Igangan, 8 in Idere, and 13 in Igboora, totaling 35 across the five towns in the constituency. At most, we believe there are about 45-47 appointments, unless proven otherwise.”
Reiterating their challenge, The Progressive Ideologues urged the lawmaker to provide a verifiable list of at least 70 individuals gainfully employed through his facilitation, including their names, positions, and specific communities within Ibarapa. “We urge your media aide to provide the list within the week. This is an opportunity to validate your claims and demonstrate your commitment to the people of Ibarapa,” the statement read.
The group emphasized its commitment to the welfare and development of the constituency, stressing that public office holders must prioritize the needs of the people and be accountable for their actions. They noted that transparency and accountability are crucial in public service and expressed confidence that this challenge would help clarify the validity of the lawmaker’s claims.
“We expect your media aide to provide the list of individuals employed through your facilitation within the specified timeframe. If the list is not forthcoming or lacks substance, it will raise further questions about the validity of your claims,” the statement concluded.
