A non-governmental organisation, Gbenga Obilade’s Foundation has facilitated sponsorship of vocational training for youths in Egbeda and Ona-Ara LGAs. The NGO didn’t only sponsor the recently graduands but equipped them with necessary tools serving as seed capital to kick off operation and open doors to their self-reliance and long-term prosperity.
The founder of the Foundation, Amb. (Dr) Gbenga Obilade while revealing the motives behind the scheme said sponsoring training without providing essential equipment and tools will not enable beneficiaries to put their skills into practice and ignite their entrepreneurship spirit.
Amb. (Dr) Obilade who is also Bobagunwa of Akinjole Community in Egbeda LGA said the foundation will continue to build a generation of skilled individuals who can contribute meaningfully to society, reduce dependency and drive economic progress.
While speaking on why he procured equipment for beneficiaries after sponsoring their training, Chief Obilade said he didn’t want to leave trainees stranded without means to utilise their knowledge effectively.
A beneficiary of hairdressing dryer and other tools for for female hair stylist, Sukurat Adegbola appreciated founder of the Foundation and its entire team, for committing their resources to train her. According to Sukurat Adegbola, she said; “I have been looking for opportunity like this, undergoing hairdressing training is like a dream comes through for me”.
She equally appreciated her boss who put her through from day one till she became graduand. She encouraged young girls to acquire vocational skills in order to be relevant and benefit from economy driven by skills. She advised her colleagues to remain calm and position themselves for life-changing opportunities from reputable NGO like Gbenga Obilade’s Foundation.
Sukurat’s boss, extolled Gbenga Obilade’s Foundation for partnering with her hair stylist venture to train young girls. She described the graduand as a punctual, focused and goal-oriented lady who arrives at the office early and pays attention to details of the work.
Another beneficiary of Gbenga Obilade’s Foundation empowerment gesture, Samuel Israel Oluwadamilare thanked the founder and entire team who were instrumental to his success as a male hair stylist (barber). Israel in his speech during the graduation ceremony said the foundation came to his rescue at a critical stage in his life.
“With the skills I have acquired and sponsored by Gbenga Obilade’s Foundation, I can contribute my quota by being productive, consistent and committed to the knowledge acquired from my boss”.
The parents of the duo unanimously expressed their joy to the founder, the foundation’s team. They prayed fervently for the continued progress of the founder and his fruits.
