Amb. (Dr) Gbenga Obilade, a notable figure within the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, has visited the APC Secretariat in Egbeda Local Government Area to reaffirm his loyalty to the party and strengthen his relationship with local leaders.
Obilade, who hails from Oja’gbo in Ibadan and traces his lineage to Ile Alarere, told party members that he has been in the APC for over five years and remains fully committed to its progress. He described himself as a loyal party man and a philanthropist devoted to supporting community development across Egbeda and Ona-Ara LGAs.

During the visit, he commended the leadership structure in Egbeda, praising party executives, ward leaders and elders for sustaining unity and discipline.
He stressed that the APC must remain focused as preparations for the 2027 general elections begin to take shape, adding that he is ready to support whoever emerges as the party’s candidate.

Obilade, who is the Bobagunwa of Akinjole Community in Egbeda also acknowledged the efforts of Hon Akin Alabi, the member representing Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal Constituency, and Hon Akinjide Akinola, an aspirant for the same seat. He said their contributions have helped to stabilise the party and strengthen its influence across both local governments.

The Founder of Gbenga Obilade’s Foundation explained that his visit was aimed at greeting the leaders, reaffirming his loyalty and making it clear that he remains committed to the growth of the party at all levels
Party leaders at the meeting described Chief Obilade as a proud son of Egbeda and a dependable party member whose continuous engagement encourages grassroots mobilisation.
The Women Leader, Hon. Aderonke Adedeji, appealed to him to continue empowering women in the party, noting that women’s participation strengthens the APC and improves its electoral advantage.
Veteran party elder, Baba Sule Suara, called for unity within the ranks, reminding members that Egbeda and Ona-Ara have long shared political ties and must continue to work together. He said the party can only consolidate its strength when all wards embrace cooperation and harmony.
Amb. Gbenga Obilade also announced a donation of N1 million to support party activities and enhance operations in Egbeda Local Government.
A key highlight of the event was the reception of new members who defected from the PDP to the APC in Ward 9. The decampees were received by the ward leadership and accompanied by Chief Obilade, who welcomed them and encouraged them to play active roles in party affairs.

Among those present at the meeting were the APC Egbeda Party Chairman, Comrade Olawale Opaleye, the Women Leader Hon Aderonke Adedeji, the Director General of the Akin Alabi Campaign Organisation, Hon Adebowale Amoo, Baale Owobale, Elder Ephraim Olaniyi, and Hon Biliaminu Ogundele.
On the entourage of Chief Obilade were Baale of Akinjole, Alhaji Akanmu, Alhaji Saka, Balogun of Akinjole, Hon. Akanmu Sulaiman Abiodun, Gbenga Obilade’s Foundation volunteers among others.
