A former student leader of the University of Ibadan, Akande Akin Sanyaolu has been shortlisted among the top 2000 applicants that will participate in the stage (1a) of the AgroMinds African Challenge.

Sanyaolu was a former Welfare of Students’ Union Transition Committee (SUTC) in 2008/2009 academic session and Chairman, SUTC in 2009/2010. His administration handed over to duly elected Students’ Union leaders when the ban was lifted on Students’Union in 2010/2011 academic session.

AgroMinds Africa is guided by the vision that no agribusiness is too small to make a difference or too old to make an impact. It  is committed to ensuring that every agribusiness has a chance to succeed.

AgroMinds seeks to empower the next generation of youth driven African Agribusinesses.

Agriculture remains Africa’s largest economic sector, representing 15% of the continent’s total GDP annually.

The finalists of the AgroMinds African Challenge would receive up to $150,000 in seed or growth capital. Having innovative idea or existing agribusiness operation across agribusiness value chain in Africa is a prerequisite for the grant.

No fever than 7,000 applicants were engaged in the business plan presentation from 42 African countries.

The roadmap to pitch show is divided into 4 stages.

After rigorous screening by the AgroMinds selection team to ensure the best made it to Stage (1a), only top 2000 applicants were shortlisted from 7,404 application received.

The AgroMinds Team would review business plans submitted by applicants to shortlist top 500 applicants from the pool for Stage (1b).

Only top 100 would make it to Stage 2 of the pitch show. Out of this, top 30 will be shortlisted for Stage 3 in September.

Stage 4 would witness pitch by 30 finalists in November this year.

Sanyaolu holds Bachelor of Science Degree (B.Sc) in Agricultural Economics and Master’s Degree (M.Sc) in Agriculture and Applied Economics from the prestigious University of Ibadan.

Currently, Sanyaolu is the Chief Exexutive Officer and Principal Consultant of Boldan Agro Ventures; an agricultural consulting, marketing and agricultural business development firm.
