The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Ibadan Zonal Station, has bestowed a well-deserved honour on Dr Kolapo Temitope Glorious, the Executive Chairman of Ona Ara Local Government, by presenting him with the prestigious Grassroots Politician of the Year Award during a special live programme on

Premier 93.5 FM, Dugbe, Ibadan, by the Zonal Director, Mr Dominic S. Mokikan, on behalf of the Corporation.
Whatever the criteria used by the well-respected Corporation, the award is the recognition of and testimony to Dr Glorious’ transformative leadership, community-focused governance and unwavering commitment to improving grassroots well-being.
Dr Glorious’ proactive approach to security has been a game-changer in Ona Ara. His administration has implemented several strategies to engage with the community and address security concerns, including installing streetlights, engaging with local communities and traditional leaders, and deploying security personnel to maintain a steady presence in strategic areas. These efforts have significantly reduced crime rates and improved the overall quality of life for residents.
The award is a fitting recognition of Dr Glorious’ dedication to sustainable development, social welfare and progressive service delivery. His leadership style, which prioritises people-centred governance, has made him a standout among grassroots leaders in Oyo State.
Dr Glorious has implemented several initiatives to promote education and youth empowerment in Ona Ara, including distributing 500 free JAMB forms to indigent youths, accompanied by tutorial classes and awarding scholarships to students in higher institutions, schools of nursing, and health technology; providing vocational training to young people, equipping them with practical skills for self-reliance; actively reconstructing and upgrading schools across the council area, including Methodist Basic School, Are Alasa, Islamic Mission School, Araromi-Aperin, and St. David Basic School, Odi Odeyale; and constructing bridges and box culverts in five communities to improve access to education and economic opportunities.

To sustain these initiatives, Dr Glorious has employed strategies such as maintaining consistent community engagement, ensuring transparency, accountability and direct feedback from constituents, and collaborating with organisations like theJust Help Africa Foundation to support education initiatives.
Dr Glorious’ efforts have earned him recognition, including the Pacesetter Outstanding Personality Award. So the FRCN’s award is an additional recognition and accolade. The award by FRCN is fitting for Dr Temitope GLORIOUS as a shining example of grassroots leadership which is the recognition of his transformational leadership, community-focused governance and unshakeable commitment to improving grassroots well-being.
