The creature known as ‘egbere’ by the Yorubas is a mythical, gnome-like forest spirit which is identified by its endless wailing.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Oyo state, just like their Leader, Governor Seyi Makinde, are in a state of confusion.
Like a drowning man would cling to even, a nylon of pure water, to avoid drowning, the PDP are now always quick to jump at anything they perceived as a mistake from opposition figures, including President Tinubu.
If any of them marries a wife and for some medical or supernatural reasons, he couldn’t get his wife pregnant, they would attribute the affliction to the APC.
I told a friend of mine yesterday that we really need to be extra careful these days because the way the PDP are going about things, they may one day accuse us that they have a video of us eating Amala in our home with just a piece of meat.
Unfortunately for them, perhaps, due to desperation, they would not pause to eat their words before spewing them.
They want to attract sympathy at all costs.
Presently, Her Excellency, Dr. Mrs. Florence Ajimobi is their focus. They have decided to take some words allegedly credited to her in a video out of context. I used the word ‘ allegedly ‘ because the former First Lady had denied the contents of the video.
The video has gone viral and Governor Makinde’s lickspittles are feasting on what, I think they considered an easy way of bringing down the tension that has continued to build up in their Camp on a daily basis.
Ordinarily, I thought I was not going to say anything about the video because it has been denied by Dr. Mrs. Ajimobi but when I saw that even the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP have also released a statement on the alleged video, I thought I needed to make a few comments about it.
I will begin by saying that, assuming Mrs. Ajimobi actually made that statement, shouldn’t she be taken in the context the statement was made?
I believe the woman must be close to 70 years of age, or thereabout. Fortunately, she is a former First Lady of Oyo state for eight years. Before she became the First Lady of Oyo state, during her time as the First Lady and up till now, has she ever been identified with violence?
Do people just wake up and become violent at their old age? Before you engage in violence, you must first be capable of being violent. Is Mrs. Ajimobi capable of engaging in violence when you look at the history of her life, most especially, in public office? The people of Oyo state know those who are capable of violence and murder even when they didn’t talk about it.
In 2021, Mukaila aka Auxiliary led PDP thugs to disrupt Local Government election in Ibarapa East and in the process four innocent lives were lost in cold blood, including that of one Ebenezer Opakunbi.
They were murdered. Gunned down in cold blood. A few days after the incident, Governor Makinde visited Eruwa and instead of him to be sober and remorseful, he said and coldly so, that the unfortunate incident occured because some people chose to oppose the choice of the Speaker of the House of Assembly for the position of the Chairman of Ibarapa East Local Government.
Imagine that insensitivity. You called an election, people responded by fielding candidates and when you saw that your political party was bound to lose, your people sent thugs after the opposition and in the end, people died.
Yet, you came out to say, yes, you shouldn’t have opposed the candidates of my party! In another incident in 2023, during a Campaign rally at Ogbomosho, a toddler was crushed to death by over speeding vehicles, allegedly, in the convoy of Governor Seyi Makinde.
In 2023, also, at Igangan in Ibarapa North Local Government, many lives were lost when Auxiliary and PDP thugs attacked the Community during Governor Makinde’s campaign rally. It was the same Mukaila aka Auxiliary who shot and killed one Rahman in cold blood at Iwo Road, Ibadan.
We were all here when the same Mukaila, aka Auxiliary was seen in a video, in the midst of very dangerous looking thugs, threatening to kill the former Governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose at Osogbo in Osun state during the PDP South West Congress of 2024.
So, was Auxiliary doing all those things for Mrs. Ajimobi or, were those shouting up and down now blind and deaf at the time? Governor Makinde had conducted Local Government election twice as Governor of Oyo state.
On both occasions, what was the atmosphere like? Friendly? Just recently, Governor Seyi Makinde said ‘ were la fi nwo were ‘ publicly and you people were silent when he made that statement but now you’re up in arms against Florence Ajimobi.
I do not support violence in any form but if you ask me, which one should bother me between the ‘ were la fi nwo were ‘ statement by Seyi Makinde and the alleged ‘ war’ statement credited to Mrs. Ajimobi, I would be mortally afraid of Governor Seyi Makinde, even when he said nothing.
Mrs. Ajimobi has no track records of violence and neither did her husband but Governor Seyi Makinde smells of violence all over. I must confess that I didn’t bother to open the link to the PDP story.
The headline is enough to nauseate any right thinking person. To say that Makinde has ended ‘ hunger, poverty and war brought by Ajimobi ‘ is indeed annoying. Which war, which poverty, which hunger did Ajimobi bring to Oyo state?The murder of Rahman at Iwo Road? The killings of the innocent four at Eruwa in 2021 during what was supposed to be a Local Government election? The crushing of a toddler at Ogbomosho or, is it the killings of the people of Igangan in 2023 by Auxiliary?
Were those crimes committed by Mrs. Ajimobi or her husband? It is very unfortunate, how compromised the Media have become. When those ugly incidents highlighted above happened, the generalities of the Media looked the other way, including the ‘ Oyo Npe O’ fellow and that is why the PDP still have the sour mouth to talk now.
An elderly brother of mine called me yesterday. He was filled with surprise when he saw a particular anchor of a political Radio program which run on Saturdays on a very popular Radio station in Ibadan. He was shocked to see how fat the fellow have become. I told him that is why I always say that the bellies of some Radio personalities have continued to protrude since they chose to be blind to Governor Makinde’s errors. If you can choose to become a fool, deaf, dumb and blind to the Governor’s faults, oh, you’re certainly sure to be pregnant with ‘ ijekuje ‘.
Now, if Governor Makinde’s lickspittles and the PDP would not speak to the litany of violence and murders highlighted above, where do they get the mouth to attack Mrs. Ajimobi, even, if she said what she was accused of saying?
Just yesterday, I saw a document which detailed a breakdown of the net allocation disbursed to the 33 Local Governments of Oyo state in November, 2025. According to that document, the 33 Local Governments of Oyo state got a total of 18.34 billion Naira for the month of November, 2025 alone. Who is talking about that and isn’t that what the PDP and the Press should be more concerned about instead of wasting time, discussing about a woman who has never been known to have hurt a fly?
In that PDP story, an AI generated picture of Mrs. Ajimobi, wearing a para-military regalia, with a gun strapped round her shoulder was used. Is that picture real? If they could generate such a picture through technology, what would stop them from manipulating a video?
Like I said, assuming without conceding that the video is genuine, are they quoting the woman within the context of what she might have genuinely meant? The 33 Local Governments of Oyo state are presently in comatose. Dead and ruined by Governor Seyi Makinde and the PDP.
The APC Administration at the Federal level has increased monthly Allocations to both the States and the Local Governments. Governor Makinde received over 18 billion on behalf of the 33 Local Governments in November, 2025 alone.
Who is taking up the Governor on this? When will the PDP tell us what Governor Makinde had been doing with the billions of Naira he has been receiving on behalf of the 33 Local Governments since 2019?
Apart from the fact that the Governor have been receiving billions of Naira on behalf of the Local Governments with nothing to show for it, most of the assets belonging to the 33 Local Governments, including the ones left by the Administration of the husband of the woman they are presently trying to denigrate had been sold by the Makinde Administration.
Most of the Graders, Tractors, Refuse gathering trucks and Borehole drilling machines left behind by past Administrations, Abiola Ajimobi inclusive, have been sold under the Seyi Makinde Administration.
Shouldn’t we be discussing that? Instead of explaining these very important matters to the public, Governor Makinde and the PDP are telling us that we will have another Local Government election by January next year, a few weeks to the 2027 general election.
Last weekend, I saw the painful story of a grieving family in the news. A woman, who was a teacher in a private school fell sick and according to the account given by the sister of the particular woman who is now late, they moved the deceased from one hospital to the other in Ibadan, both private and public but they were given one excuse or the other until the woman died.
Shouldn’t we be talking about the terrible state of our public health system? Presently, Oyo state is beginning to record increased cases of kidnappings and Banditry.
I expect Governor Seyi Makinde to be briefing us about what he has been doing to confront this very scary development. What is he doing domestically and how has he been collaborating with the Federal Government to curtail the incursions of Bandits in Oyo state. Instead of that, if he is not attending a PDP meeting in Abeokuta, he would be attending some birthday party, abusing the same president, whose support he requires to effectively secure the people of Oyo state and we are not talking about that?
Governor Makinde and the PDP are all out trying to confuse and deceive the people but we will make their mission an impossibility.
