The Federal Government has bowed to the pressure from stakeholders in the telecommunication sector and members of the organised private sectors.
The suspension was announced by Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Ali Pantami during the inaugural meeting of presidential committee one excise duty for digital economy sector in Abuja.
According to the minister, the information, technology and communication sectors, especially the telecommunication is overburden by excessive multiple taxation which may likely affect the sector if the government fail to act.
He noted that ICT sector has been the backbone of the Nigeria’s economy both in the area of contribution into GDP and taxes collected by FIRS.
