Today as always, I remember the life and legacy of Sheik Alhaji Muyideen Ajani Bello, a renowned Nigerian Islamic preacher who passed away on December 6, 2024, at the age of 84. He was a man of great faith, known for his fearless sermons, impactful teachings and unshakeable commitment to spreading Islam.
Born in 1940 in Ibadan, Oyo State, Sheikh Bello began preaching at the tender age of 10 and went on to become one of Nigeria’s most respected Islamic scholars. He studied Arabic and Islamic theology at Mahdul Arabiy, Elekuro, Ibadan, Oyo State between 1963 and 1967, and later served as the Missioner for the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria.

Sheikh Bello’s influence extended beyond Nigeria, with invitations to preach in the UK, US, and several African countries. His sermons often addressed societal issues like corruption, justice and unity, earning him admiration from people of all backgrounds.
He will be remembered for his dedication to education, advocating for the combination of Western and Islamic knowledge. His legacy continues to inspire generations, and his teachings remain a guiding light for many.
