The newly sworn-in Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has assured Nigerians that Master Plan to things around for better in the power sector for improved power supply will ready in four weeks.
Adelabu gave the assurance at the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) during his visit to the socio-political group for Ibadan sons and daughters.
The Minister of Power stated that he will reveal the Master Plan for the power sector in 2 to 4 weeks. Adelabu expressed that he is studying each stage in the value chain of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) from generation, transmission and distribution.
“I will not be in a haste to let out my master plan, may be in 2 or 4 weeks, we will have to understudy each stage in the value chain of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI), from generation, transmission and distribution, also the renewal energy for rural electricity, which we plan to provide solar, wind farm, mini hydro-power like the Ikere Gorge Dam which we plan to revive and improve the capacity.
“Not only in Oyo State, but across the entire nation. President Tinubu you will recall reminded us to always put the entire nation at heart always as ministers”.
Adelabu continued when he said they have plans to make major additions to the national grid in terms of hydropower plants in Zungeru and Shiroro.
“Within the next six months, there would be major addition to the national grid, in terms of hydro power plant, that is the Zungeru 700mw in Niger state, that is about to be completed. This will be the biggest one in Sub-sahara Africa when completed.” Adelabu said.
“The Kanji dam that we all grew up to know supplies about 460mw, Shiroro dam supplies about 520mw.
“I will do everything to ensure that Zugeru power plant is inaugurated and subsequently add 700mw to the national grid,” he stated.

He concluded that om few weeks, he will organize an elaborate press conference where he will discuss with journalists to release the power sector master plan that will be tagged “Power for Economic Growth”
“I’m sure in 6 months you will begin to see remarkable difference in the Nigerian power sector
“I’m still under studying after 2 weeks or months we will organize an elaborate press conference, that we will discuss with journalist to release our master plan for the power sector.” Adelabu concluded.
