The former Chairman, Board of Commissioners of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC),  Prof. Adeolu Akande has commenced disbursement of funds for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to support their businesses in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State.

According to Ibadan City Journal,  the distribution of the funds was in fulfilment of Prof. Akande’s promise who had earlier announced his intention to commence  Economic Development Support Fund for SMEs in Itesiwaju LGA.

Prof. Akande was represented at the launch of the first phase of the support scheme for SMEs in Otu, Itesiwaju Local Government headquarters, by a veteran journalist, Mr. Dejo Adebisi, an indigene of Ipapo town in the local government.

In his remarks, Adebisi advised the beneficiaries to use the funds prudently, as they are the ones who will manage and coordinate the scheme for themselves. He promised that the second face would come up before the end of the year.

Adebisi also revealed that plans are ongoing to extend the scheme to the rest of Oke-Ogun and later to the rest of the state.

Other associates at the event are former Chairman of Itesiwaju LG, Hon Adisa Adeniji Olanrire, Former Excecutive Chairman of Itesiwaju LG, Hon Niyi Adeagbo, Former Chairman of Inukan LCDA (Ona Ara LG), Hon. Olanrewaju Adesina “Solution,” , Former Chairman of Oluyole LG, Hon. James Adeleke, Former Special Assistant to Oyo State Governor, Hon Ademola Solalu, Hon. Ajewole Elisha Atisbo, Hon. Taofeek Barry White, among others, distributed the cash SME support funds to the beneficiaries.

The beneficiaries across the 10 wards of the local government took turns to thank Professor Akande with his usual gesture at all times, identifying with the community.
