The visit is a critical step in the process of transferring regulatory oversight of Oyo State’s electricity market from NERC to the Oyo State Government. This move aligns with the state’s vision of localized energy management to drive efficiency and development.

Throughout the week, the delegation will engage in interactive sessions with officials from various NERC divisions, including Legal, Licensing and Compliance, Engineering and Performance Monitoring, Market Competitions and Rate, among others.

These sessions aim to equip Oyo State officials with the technical and regulatory knowledge required for the successful oversight of its electricity market, marking a significant milestone in the state’s journey toward energy independence and improved service delivery.
