In a message made available to the press on Wednesday, the monarch noted that the simultaneous observance of the two sacred seasons presents a profound opportunity for reflection, sacrifice and moral recalibration across communities in Oyo State and beyond.

The royal father, who also serves as Deputy Chairman I of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, stated that both Ramadan and Lent transcend religious ritual and speak to the universal call for repentance, discipline and renewed commitment to righteousness.

He explained that Ramadan, observed by Muslims worldwide, is a sacred month of fasting, devotion and submission to the will of Allah, fostering self-restraint, compassion and heightened spiritual consciousness. Similarly, he described the Lenten season as a solemn period in the Christian calendar dedicated to prayer, fasting and penitence in preparation for Easter.

According to the monarch, while the two observances differ in doctrine and practice, they share a common moral foundation rooted in humility, sacrifice and accountability before the Almighty.

He urged adherents of both faiths to internalize the deeper meaning of the seasons by promoting peace, tolerance and charitable conduct within their communities. He emphasized that true observance must reflect in daily actions and contribute to the strengthening of communal bonds.

The traditional ruler further called for unity across religious lines, stressing that sustainable development and social stability can only thrive in an atmosphere of mutual respect and peaceful coexistence.

He concluded with prayers for divine acceptance of the fasts and supplications offered during the holy seasons and expressed hope that the period would usher in renewed progress and prosperity for the state and the nation.
