Minister of Works, Mr. David Umahi has ordered the contractors handling East-West Road to stop work and vacate site with immediate effect.
Umahi took the decision while inspecting section 11 of the 54km road in Bayelsa, Rivers State.
He said the standard of the work done so far was below expectations and as such the work must stop while government conduct its review in due time.
“We have been brainwashed in the country, contractor is building on asphalt and road is falling, I’m not here to make contractors happy but to make God, Mr. President and Nigerians happy. We must have value for our money”.
