The School of Secondary Education (Science Programmes), Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo has unanimously elected Dr. Adewumi Idowu Adeagbo as its new Dean. She succeeds Mr. Mumini O. Raji whose tenure ended on Monday, 15 May 2023.
Dr. Adewumi Idowu Adeagbo, a Chemist of repute was born on November 27, 1966, in Ibadan, Oyo State. She started her education at NW5 Baptist Primary School, Inalende, Ibadan between 1973–1979 and her secondary education at the famous St. Louis Grammar School, Ibadan between 1979– 1984. In her pursuit of higher education, she proceeded to the prestigious University of Ibadan, Ibadan in 1986 and graduated in 1990 with a B.Ed degree in Chemistry/Physics; M.Ed Educational Mgt. (Personnel Management) 1994 and M.Sc Chemistry (Inorganic) 1998.

She later obtained a Diploma in Computer Studies from the Oyo State College of Education, Oyo in 2005 and returned to the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso between 2009–2015 to cap her academics with a Ph.D in Inorganic Chemistry. She observed her one-year mandatory NYSC programme as a Chemistry Teacher at Awgu Secondary School Enugu between 1990-1991 in the old Anambra State.
Dr. Adewumi Adeagbo secured employment with the Oyo State Teaching Service Commission as a Chemistry Teacher at Jericho High School, Ibadan, and St. Bernadines Grammar School, Oyo between 1992 -1995. She joined the service of St. Andrew’s College of Education, Oyo (now Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo) on August 1, 1995 as a Lecturer III in the Department of Chemistry and had her appointment confirmed on August 1, 1997. She rose through the ranks to the position of Chief Lecturer on October 1, 2012. It must be placed on record that the new Dean was on sabbatical leaves at The Polytechnic, Ibadan between 2011 – 2012 and Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo in 2019-2020.

Dr. A. I. Adeagbo who was adjudged and awarded as having Best Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Thesis by the Senate of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso in the 2014/2015 graduation year, has attended many learned conferences and published in many academic journals both locally and internationally. The new Dean has served the College in various capacities which include School Chairman, Research and Publication; Chairman Results Compilation Committee; Secretary, Department of Chemistry; Staff Adviser, Student Chemical Society of Nigeria (SCSN); Two times Head, Department of Chemistry, Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo 2006- 2010, 2015-2019 and Programme Coordinator, Regular Undergraduate Degree of the Ekiti State University in Affiliation with Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo 2016 to April 2019. She is an External Moderator in Chemistry to several Colleges of Education and Polytechnics in Nigeria. She belongs to various professional and Academic Bodies such as The Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN); The American Chemical Society (ACS); Women in Colleges of Education, and Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (among others).
The new Dean, Dr. Adewumi Idowu Adeagbo is a devoted Christian, happily married to Dr. Olusegun Adeagbo, former Provost, Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate, and the marriage is blessed with upwardly mobile children.
