The School of Early Childhood Care and Primary Education of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo (EACOED) has concluded its 1st virtual conference which held on Tuesday with a theme ‘Re-thinking Early Childhood and Primary Education in Post Covid-19 Era in Nigeria’.

According to a release made available by the Special Assistant to the Provost on Media Matters, Wale Adeoye, the Provost, Dr. Rasak Adetunji Adefabi, FIEN, FCAI, J.P while declaring the conference open, commended the Dean, School of Early Childhood Care and Primary Education and the Organizing Committee for putting up such educative virtual conference which is the first Virtual Conference of the School of ECCPED. According to him, “I am extremely delighted because this is the first Virtual Conference of the School of ECCPED, which in a way is aimed at defeating the limitations and restriction of association and physical conferencing imposed by global Pandemic of Corona Virus.”

Speaking further, the College Chief Executive Officer stated that “today’s world has gone virtual as a result of the outbreak of Covid-19. Teleconferencing is gradually becoming a medium of learning and exchange of ideas. Virtual conferencing and the spread has been quite breath-taking. Virtual learning is now part of our active vocabulary”.

“The theme of the conference: “Re-thinking Early Childhood and Primary Education in Post Covid-19 Era in Nigeria”, according to the College helmsman could not have come to manifest at a better time than this period when every institution of learning is re-packaging their system to pass information and exchange ideas through information and communication technology. The main focus of this conference therefore, “is to keep Early Childhood Care and Primary Education functioning in spite of the negative effects of Corona Virus on Education industry.”

Dr. Adefabi finally called on participants at the virtual conference to put forward recommendations that would make early Childhood Care and Primary Education functioning amidst the present pandemic.
