Renowned Guidance Counselor and Acting Provost, Emmanuel Alayande College of Education (EACOED), Oyo, Dr. Nelson Aderemi Oyewo has expressed sincere gratitude to God Almighty for keeping him going in the last one year of his administration. He stated this today, at his Erelu office, acknowledging the support of his Management team and members of the College community. Recall that Dr. Nelson Aderemi Oyewo became the College Acting Provost following the expiration of the tenure of the former Provost, Dr. Rasak Adetunji Adefabi, JP.
According to a release by the Special Assistant on Media Matters to the Ag. Provost, ‘Wale Adeoye quoting the Ogbomoso-born technocrat, “today, I feel elated to thank God for the journey in the last one year in my acting capacity as the Provost of the College. Against all odds, the Almighty has remained faithful to us and I am much thankful to His Excellency, Engr. Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, FNSE, the Governing Council ably led by Prof. Matthew Odedokun, my management team, Deans and Directors, Heads of Registry Divisions/Service Units, the three (3) trade unions and particularly members of the College community for the unwavering love and support our administration has enjoyed.” Speaking further, the Ag. Provost identified some of the achievements of the administration under his watch. Today, we have achieved the following among other things:
• Enhanced staff capacity building initiatives for both academic and Senior Administrative/Professional/Technical staff through attendance at Local and International Conferences and Workshops.
• Regular and smooth transition of NCE Students’ Union Regime such that students’ democratic participation in College governance is guaranteed.

• Launching of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education chapter of Nigerian Universities Education Students Association (NUESA) for a robust Students/Management relationship.
• Repositioning of the Directorate of Degree and Sandwich Programmes for efficient, effective and prompt processing of results.
• Ensuring a smooth take-off of the College Alumni Association with the inauguration of an Interim National Executive for ease of coordination.
• Processing of backlogs of NCE and Degree students final result since 2020
• Re-installation of result processing package for NCE/ Full-Time Degree and Sandwich Degree.
• Peaceful co-existence between town and gown in realization of the College mandate.
• Ensuring a hitch-free academic session since he assumed duty.

Dr. Nelson Aderemi Oyewo, who officially became the College Acting Provost on 16 May, 2022, was born on 23 December, 1962 at Ogbomoso. He started his primary education at Baptist Day School, Osupa, Ogbomoso between January, 1968 and June, 1973. He proceeded to Baptist High School, Ogbomoso between September, 1973- June, 1978 before moving to the Advanced Teacher’s College, Zaria for his Nigeria Certificate in Education between 1980-1983. In his quest for knowledge, Aderemi Oyewo got admitted to the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he bagged a B.Ed Degree (Second Class Upper Division) in Social Studies in August, 1986. He, thereafter, proceeded to the University of Ilorin for a Masters Degree in Guidance and Counselling in 1987 and graduated in January, 1989. A teacher par excellence, Nelson Oyewo took out time to pursue a Diploma in Computer Studies at the Oyo State College of Education, Oyo in 2004 before he finally added another epaulette to his shoulder with a Ph.D in Guidance and Counselling from the University of Ilorin in 2007. Dr. Aderemi Oyewo belongs to many professional bodies which include Counseling Association of Nigeria (CASSON); University of Ilorin Alumni Association; Nigerian Society for Educational Psychologist (NISEP); Teacher’s Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN); American Psychological Association and Fellow, Chartered Administration Institute (FCAI).

He has attended and presented at numerous academic seminars, learned conferences both locally and internationally while he has written and co-written many books, contributed to twenty seven (27) books and has over forty (40) journals and articles to his credit.
An Applied Psychologist, Dr. Nelson Aderemi Oyewo got employed at the then St. Andrew’s College of Education, Oyo (now Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo on April 2, 1990 after he took a stint as a teacher at Ogbomoso Grammar School, Ogbomoso between May, 1989 and March, 1990. Since his appointment as a Lecturer III in the College, he has contributed in no small measures to the developments of the College. He had served in numerous College committees and served among other posts as Head of Department, Educational Psychology; Dean, Students’ Affairs; Assistant Director (NCE Sandwich Programme); Coordinator, Professional Diploma in Education; Dean, School of Education; Chairman, Committee of Deans and Directors; Director, Directorate of Degree and Sandwich Programmes and until his appointment, he was the College Deputy Provost, a position he has held for over three years. He is happily married with upwardly mobile children.
Speaking on the one year anniversary, College Ag. Registrar, Mrs. Olubunmi S. Asunmo joined the Ag. Provost in appreciating God for journeying with him in the last one year. “I thank God for working and journeying with him. I further pray for more wisdom and peaceful tenure throughout his stay in office”.
