All seems not well with the running of the local government administration in Oyo East Local Government under its Chairman, Hon. Olusola Oluokun as a leaked letter soliciting for building materials from notable sons, daughters and well wishers in order to restore the glory of the LGA secretariat located in Kosobo, Oyo.
The viral fund-raising letter came barely a year after all the elected Chairmen across the 33 LGAs moved against full autonomy of the council and pledged loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde who spoke voraciously against the move by the FG.
In a letter sighted by FRESHPAGE and addressed to the lawmaker, Hon. Akeem Adeyemi representing, Afijio/Atiba/ Oyo East/ Oyo West federal constituency, the said letter had verified account details of the LG.
A follow up on the viral letter revealed that few individuals have started donating to assist the LG, one of those who confirmed the payment to the account was former member, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon. Muideen Olagunju Alatede.
Below is the excerpt from the letter signed by Comrade Gbadebo Ajayi, Director of Administration and General Services;
“We extend our warmest greetings and express our sincere anticipation as we bring to your attention the state of the Oyo East Local Government Secretariat Complex in Kosobo, Oyo. Once a shining beacon of administrative pride, it is now in need of revival.
“We believe that revitalising this crucial structure is a collective responsibility that extends beyond the government and we are hopeful that you will lend your support as a patriotic leader.

“Your assistance in funding the complete renovation of this Secretariat — either through cash or materials — will be greatly appreciated.
“We graciously accept material donations such as paints, cement, roofing sheets, office furniture and floor tiles. Your timely support will be pivotal in breathing life back into a cornerstone of our local governance, setting a powerful example of leadership that impacts lives directly”.
Although, the Chairman, Hon. Oluokun has issued a disclaimer that the said letter requesting for financial assistance wasn’t authorised by him but the enthusiastic residents of the LGA and beyond have started sending their donations.
