The Deputy Senate President, Senator JIbrin I. Barau has announced the appointment of Idris Abolaji Ajimobi, son of late former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi as Special Adviser on Special Duties.
Senator Barau who is representing Kano North Senatorial District also announced the appointment of Professor Muhammad Abdullahi as Chief of Staff; Prof. Bashir Muhammad Faggae Special Adviser (Policy & Monitoring), Ismail Mudashir, Special Adviser (Media & Publicity).

Also on the list were Yusuf Ali you Tumfafi, Special Adviser (Political), Mrs Ngozi Ndawi Nkemdirim, Special Adviser (Administration) and Shitu Madaki Kunchi, Special Assistant (Media & Publicity).
Idris Ajimobi was the standard bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the 2023 general elections for Ibadan South West Constituency 2, the assembly seat he lost to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
