It was historic gathering at the prestigious Mapo Hall, Ibadan where Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State presented the Instruments of Office to the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.

The coronation was witnessed by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, eminent Nigerians and traditional leaders across Nigeria.
The ascension of the throne by the former governor of the state, marked the beginning of new era in Ibadan traditional system, as Oba Ladoja becomes the first senator, ex-governor to rise through the ladder to ascend the throne of his forefathers.
Governor Makinde while presenting the instruments of office to Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja Arusa I, declared that the traditional system and succession process are sacrosanct and must be continue to be upheld at all time.
He stressed that all challenges associated with the Olubadan Chieftaincy System in recent years are over, even as he prayed that the reign of Oba Ladoja would usher in peace, progress and development in the city.
Oba Ladoja who had earlier visited Ose Meji Temple to perform the traditional rite and decorated with Akoko leaf promised to prioritize development of Ibadan land in conjunction with support of all sons and daughters of Ibadan land to transform the most slums in Ibadan main city to urban renewal.

He demanded for creation of Ibadan State from the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu who was at the venue citing that Kaduna and Enugu who were previously capital during regional government have all elevated to status of states.
