The elder brother of murdered Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) master’s student, Olugbade Adegoke has alleged that he was offered cash gift by Rahmon Adedoyin’s lawyer to drop the case of his brother that was found dead at Hilton Hotel, Osun State.
Olugbade Adegoke made the revelation in an exclusive interview he had with BBC News Yoruba.
He said he volunteered to be part of the process when police began investigation to unravel circumstances that led to the murder of his younger brother, Timothy Adegoke.
Olugbade narrated how the police investigation showed that his late brother transferred a sum of N37,000 to a receptionist at the Hilton Hotel on the fateful day he was murdered.
According to him, he said the receptionist confirmed the payment but didn’t checked in.
“After thorough drilling by the police, receptionist confessed the following day. The IPO requested for lodger’s list to get to the root of the problem.the six suspected staff members of Hilton hotel confessed to the police in Osogbo that they were responsible for the killing of Timothy Adegoke”.
Olugbade said what the family want is justice. He appealed to authority that case should not be swept under the carpet to serve as deterrent for ritual killers in the country.
” The Hilton hotel owner, Rahmon Adedoyin sent his lawyer to me to offer me cash gift in order to back out from the case. I didn’t give his lawyer face and I declined to collect the money. They are after my life since I refused to collect the cash gift. I slept in close to 7 to 8 hotels in Osogbo, Osun State”.
