One of the consequences of ongoing Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has emerged as 22 year-old undergraduate student of the University of Ibadan went missing while going to work at construction site in Ajah, Lagos.
The family of Samson Ajayi are in palpable fear to know the where about of a young man who took opportunity of ongoing ASUU strike to engage in productive work.
FRESHPAGE gathered through Punch Metro that the sad incident happened on March 9, 2022 when Samson was going to work, Ogombo Police Station in Ajah, Lagos has been informed by the family of missing UI undergraduate student.
According to Taiwo Ajayi, the Samson’s uncle who accommodated the victim before the sad incident, he said the victim was living with his parents in Alagbado area of Lagos State due to ongoing ASUU strike.
Taiwo indicted co-workers on the construction site for missing of Samson.
According to Taiwo; “His colleagues reported his absence to his mother on the telephone. On Thursday, March 10, I and his mother went to the construction site. On getting there, we made calls and searched everywhere, but we could not find him.
“Since his colleagues had yet to report the case to the police, we decided to report at the Ogombo Police Station, but we were told to come back the following day, Friday, March 11.
“We later wrote a petition to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Abiodun Alabi, who said the case should be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba.
“The police arrested some suspects, including the site engineer and the three security guards on the site”. Taiwo Added.
