The University of Ibadan Muslim Graduates’ Association (UIMGA) recently held a memorable homecoming reception and award ceremony, honoring outstanding alumni for their remarkable achievements, ambassadorial services, and contributions to the development of the university, their districts, and the nation as a whole.
One of the highlights of the event was the recognition of Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima. The Vice President’s dedication and leadership were acknowledged, reflecting his commitment to making a positive impact.
He emphasized the importance of education and collaboration in propelling the nation towards a brighter future.
Addressing the University of Ibadan Muslim Graduates’ Association (UIMGA) in a grand reception organised in his honour in Ibadan, Vice President Shettima, represented by Jamiu Abiola, Special Assistant to the President on Special Duty, Office of the Vice President, paid tribute to the University of Ibadan for shaping his worldview and instilling in him the values of public service.
Distinguished Sen Dr. Yunus Abiodun Akintunde of Oyo Central and Senator Barr Sharafadeen Ali representing Oyo South were also among the distinguished awardees. Their sterling accomplishments and unwavering dedication have made a significant difference in their respective fields and have brought pride to the University of Ibadan.
The list of awardees also included His Royal Majesty, Olowu of Owu kingdom, Oba Prof Saka Matemilola, and Oba Gazali, Onigbogbo of Igbogbo land. Additionally, several professors, including Prof Amudalat Olaniyan, were recognized for their exceptional contributions to academia and society.
The UIMGA Awards not only celebrated individual achievements but also highlighted the importance of leadership and community service. The awardees’ roles as ambassadors resonated with various alumni platforms, inspiring others to make a positive impact on their communities.
Alhaji Idris Ismail from Ile Ajeja Oje Ibadan in his words, congratulate each of the awardees “Let us also recognize the significance of their continued efforts in the service of Allah and the development of our nation. Their dedication to humanity serves as an inspiration for us all”- he added
