Today, I celebrate a rare gem, an exceptional woman whose life embodies leadership, service, and inspiration. At 67, our dear benefactor stands tall as a mother, mentor, coach, and guiding light to countless individuals whose lives she has profoundly touched.
My personal journey with Mama began in 2014 while I was a student at the University of Ibadan, leading a student body from Akinyele Local Government. That moment marked the beginning of a relationship that has since grown into many fruitful and defining experiences. From that point on, she became a consistent source of wisdom, encouragement, and direction in my life. Indeed, she is one of the major reasons I developed a deep and lasting interest in politics.
Her influence goes far beyond personal mentorship. In the landscape of Oyo State politics, Mama has carved a remarkable legacy as a builder of people and a nurturer of leaders. Through her guidance and example, she has contributed to shaping hundreds of thousands of young leaders who are now making meaningful impacts across Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole. Her leadership is not only seen in positions held but in lives transformed.
A woman of many firsts, Monsurat Sunmonu made history as the first female Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly and later served with distinction as the Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District. These achievements are not just milestones; they are symbols of courage, resilience, and groundbreaking leadership that continue to inspire generations.

Beyond her impressive résumé lies a deeply compassionate and selfless personality.
