Political gladiators, stakeholders and party faithful within and outside Ibadan North federal constituency have continued to trade words, accusations and counter-accusation over the humiliation the party suffered at the just concluded Ibadan North by-election to fill vacant seat in Green Chamber.
Adelabu Ambassadors’ Group has countered the claim made by APC Unity Frontiers that the woeful result recorded by APC at the poll was as a result of the image of Adelabu, processes that produced party’s standard bearer and management of the election campaign.
Adelabu Ambassadors’ Group in a statement released exonerated Minister of Power from the failure of APC to reclaim the federal constituency after the death of Prince Olaide Akinremi Jagaban of APC was represented the constituency till his last breath.
A statement signed by the duo of Mr. Adekunle Adewoyin, and Mr. Sefiu Gbadegesin, the Chairman and Secretary of the Adelabu Ambassadors’ concluded that the APC’s defeat was linked to internal betrayal and anti-party not alleged hijacking of the party structure by Chief Adelabu.

The group claimed that party structure at both the state and local government levels were fully involved contrary to the claim by APC Unity Frontiers that no party structure was involved.
“What played out in Ibadan North was not about Adelabu’s choice, but about the betrayal of certain individuals who had previously worked against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the APC presidential primaries and have continued to undermine the party,”
The Adelabu Ambassadors believe that this revelation is a timely to reveal saboteurs of the party, “It is better that their antics are revealed now than for APC to risk entrusting them with greater responsibilities ahead of 2027, where the consequences would have been catastrophic.”
The statement concluded by defending Chief Adebayo Adelabu’s character, describing him as a committed party man, a visionary, and a technocrat whose contributions to Oyo State and Nigeria cannot be diminished by propaganda.”

In a call for introspection and a path forward, the Adelabu Ambassadors urged the party to move beyond scapegoating. “Instead of scapegoating, the focus should be on rebuilding party unity, instilling discipline, and ensuring that those who betrayed the party at both the primaries and the by-election do not repeat such acts in 2027,” the statement said.
The group emphasized that the APC can only succeed by upholding its Progressive ideals and not by allowing internal sabotage to dictate its narrative.
